Philadelphia Young Adult Friends

More information about the Philadelphia Young Adult Friends is found at the following websites:

Philadelphia Young Adult Friends (PYAF) is a group of young adult Quakers (roughly 18-32) and Quaker sympathizers who meet together and talk about their experiences and needs as young adults.

PYAF seeks to share life experiences and attitudes, and come together as an energetic, supportive community of seekers. They have a foundation in Quaker principles, ethics, and practices.

The group meets every other Thursday and Sunday evenings for a potluck meal, fellowship and Meeting for Worship. Different people take turns hosting the gathering. PYAF gatherings are generally in the Philadelphia, with occasional events in the suburbs.

New Young Adult Friends Coordinator

Dear Friends,

It is a pleasure to share the news that Sadie Forsythe will join our staff as Young Adult Friends Coordinator. Sadie brings a vision of both supporting young adults in gathering into their own community and in being active members of the full community of  Philadelphia Yearly Meeting (PYM).

Sadie most recently served as a co-coordinator of Pendle Hill’s Young Adult Leadership Development Program over the summer, a program which emphasizes spiritual education, community living and social witness. She both graduated from Earlham College, with a degree in Peace and Global Studies, and served on staff at Earlham as a Campus Ministries Associate. She serves on the board of American Friends Service Committee (AFSC) and on Central Committee of Friends General Conference (FGC). Sadie’s life demonstrates a breadth and depth in Quakerism, seeking and engaging in community that will serve and energize the YAF, staff and PYM communities. You can read a posting by Sadie on FGC’s Quaker Youth Blog at http://www.fgcquaker.org/qy/living-with-intention to get a sense of her in her own words.

Sadie brings with her a warm and engaging presence and I look forward to welcoming her on December 3rd [2007].
